David Coto was born in 1987, San José, Costa Rica. Showing a great deal of aptitude and sensibility towards music from a young age, he enrolled at Conservatorio de Castella, graduating with excellence acknowledgements.
His interpretations and artistic labor have made him winner of multiple recognitions, such as:

1st place – Central American Classical Guitar Competition (Honduras 2007)
1st place – National Guitar Competition (Costa Rica 2008)
2nd place – Barrios World Wide Web Competition (Paraguay 2009)
“Visitante Ilustre” Award, extended by the Misiones’ City Counsel, in recognition for the diffusion of Agustin Barrios’ work (Paraguay 2009)
Three consecutive time honor roll winner by Universidad de Costa Rica (2009, 2010, 2011)
Throughout his career, David has performed with numerous and diverse artists like Paquito D’ Rivera, Juan Falú, Carlos Moscardini, Alejandro Martínez, and Berta Rojas; among others.
He currently performs with renowned artists and institutions from the Costa Rican musical scene, such as Edín Solís, Carlos “Tapado” Vargas, and The Municipal Symphony Orchestra of Heredia. David has also worked in various theatrical and integrated arts events.
His performances have been critically acclaimed both in Costa Rican territory as internationally:

David has performed not only at the most important venues in Costa Rica, but at numerous concert halls throughout Colombia, Paraguay, Nicaragua, Honduras, Mexico and Canada.
His duties as a musician include performances as solo artist, independent pedagogy, and Artistic Directorship of the San José Guitar Festival. Most recently, David has joined the well-known Costa Rican band Malpaís.
